Motorist Fined for DUI With License Lifted
Vincent Ely of Sidney was fined 160 dollars and costs in Cheyenne County Court after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic liquor. County Judge C W Smith suspended his license for six months. Ely was arrested at 11 25 p m Friday by the Nebraska Safety Patrol on Highway 19 two miles north of Gurley.

Thompson Rites Slated Thursday
Private funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at Gehrig & Son Funeral Home for Ray Oscar Thompson 35. He died Saturday morning from drinking carbolic acid swallowed in his hotel room after buying the fluid earlier that day at a local drug store. No inquest is planned. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. He was born January 23 1922 in Burknett Texas. He lived around Graham Texas. He married Betty Walker January 6 1956 in Rapid City South Dakota. Survivors include his wife two stepchildren a brother and two step-brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gurley school opens registration for a summer band program at 12 30 p m Wednesday June 12 for beginners and regular members. Director is Tom Gilliland. Four band meetings occur before Ft Sidney Days on June 12 14 19 and 21 at 7 30 p m. Beginning band meets at 6 30 p m on June 14 and 21. Regular band meets weekly on Wednesdays at 7 30 p m thereafter. Daltonite Dies In Car Crash Near Cameron Missouri
A Dalton woman Donna Della Wheeler 20 was killed in a one car crash on U S Highway 26 four miles west of Cameron Missouri. Her husband Marvin Dean Wheeler 23 the driver Arvin Kurth 18 of Dalton and Ian Kepler 16 of Broadwater were injured and taken to Cameron hospital. The Missouri Highway Patrol said Wheeler slept at the wheel causing the crash into a bridge.
