A week of heavy rainfall ended as sun returned Monday morning. The area saw 2.85 inches total for the week per local weather observer, with 1.71 inches Friday, .38 Saturday, and .59 Sunday. Sunday showers flooded streets in Sidney and northern Cy, while Arcadia north of Grand Island suffered a deadly tornado at the Madsen farm, demolishing buildings and killing ten. A suspected tornado near Big Springs Junction caused no damage according to later reports.

Lawyer Dies After Heart Attack in Sidney Home
Albert J. Kinnersley 74, longtime attorney in Cheyenne County, died early Monday of a heart attack at his Sidney home. In apparent good health prior, his death shocked family and friends. Funeral arrangements were pending. He was born April 15, 1879, in Herefordshire, England, came to the United States as a boy, practiced law for years, moved to Sidney in 1938, and married Lillian Rose Caillier October 10, 1910, at Littleton, Colorado. Surviving are his widow, six children, and a brother, with six grandchildren and Korea-bound grandson noted.
