Wheat moisture rule changes tough grade in Nebraska
Lincoln NebrASkA The Nebraska Grain Improvement Association announces a June 1 change in wheat grading. Wheat with more than 13.5 percent moisture now grades tough, replacing the previous cutoff of 14 percent for hard red winter wheat. Higher moisture raises respiration, lowers keeping quality, risks germ damage, and can cause musty odors during storage.
