Local notes record dinners, visits, and social gatherings across the area. Attendance at funerals, birthdays, and picnics fills the week, with farm tasks like tractor purchases and hog deliveries noted. Multiple families including Beyer, Bayne, Borcher, Foster, and Deaver appear amid neighborly calls and church activities.
Mr and Mrs John Volkman visited Dick Volkman and Dean Heldt homes Tuesday. Walter Rufenacht was badly injured Monday when his foot was caught in a plow behind a tractor. one leg was broken and other bruises. Dr Larson of Gurley set the leg and he is progressing as expected. Frank Rogers of Ogallala spent Tuesday and Wednesday visiting friends and neighbors in the community. He returned home Wednesday.
Mr and Mrs Frank Workman hosted a dinner last Sunday to honor Mr and Mrs John Workman and Mr and Mrs George Deaver plus families, marking Frank Workman and wife’s 15th anniversary and Frank’s birthday. Several neighbor visits and small gatherings enlivened the week in Maple Grove.
County Agent Willey attended the Prize Winners club meeting at the George Deaver home Wednesday evening. Mr and Mrs H J Elsen and children visited W E Chambers home Sunday and called at A M Andersons. Charles George stayed with his sister Mrs A J Petre of Crook for a few days. Mr and Mrs Charles McGregor of Gilead visited here with relatives and friends. Several Deavers and Rauners joined a fishing trip to lakes near Oshkosh Monday. Dren called at John George home Monday evening.
