Bryan's Western Tour Bypasses Sidney as Train Fails

The Bryan party led by W. J. Bryan failed to arrive in Sidney Nebraska after a series of mishaps. A train connection was missed causing the expected welcome to collapse. The October leg moved to Kimball and North Platte with speeches postponed and a promised return date in Sidney.

Railway Commission Visitors Report No Freight Reduction

Mesars, John Paviat and Ernest Worden returned from an eastern trip aimed at the Lincoln railway commission in session. They said the reports favored no future freight rate cuts, arguing wage cuts would harm 20,000 railroad workers and ripple through merchants, farmers, and shippers.

August Erickson a north divide pioneer and citizen was found dead in his wagon Saturday morning by Milo Webster after starting for town. The coroner ruled natural causes and a funeral was held Wednesday with no relatives present. He left a large property to go to relatives in Sweden.

Whispers On The Wind Plan for Railroad Line Cuts

Report from unnamed sources says the Union Pacific plans heavy work on the Point of Rocks line with a cut off from Herdon to Potter to straighten and shorten the track. An engineer is said to have been ordered to Big Springs to survey a shorter route to Lodgepole.
