Drowning of SOD Worker’s Son at Martin Bay Near Ogallala
Ed Moore 29, son of a Sioux Ordnance Depot employee and car dealership bookkeeper, drowned during a picnic at Martin Bay near Lake McConaughy. He disappeared at 7:15 p.m. and was recovered about midnight in 12 feet of water. Survivors include his wife and three children, ages 4, 2, and five months, and his mother Mrs. Martha Moore. John H. Taylor, 26, of Omaha, escaped a prison work detail at Sioux Ordnance Depot on Sept 10, 1953. He was on a work detail from Lincoln State Library for Men and brought back yesterday by a parole officer from a California penal institution. He had been held there for several months.
