Flat Tire Causes One Car Crash Near Sidney

A westbound car driven by Adelia Andersen, 34, of Sidney struck a flat right rear tire eight miles west of Sidney on a county road yesterday around 11 45 am and overturned. There were no injuries and damage was under $100 according to the Cheyenne County sheriff's office.

Two Charged In Attempt To Break Jail

Two prisoners at Cheyenne County Jail were charged with escaping custody after a window breach was spotted on July 8. Vernon E. Wicker and Francis D. Taylor, both named in felony complaints, allegedly tried to leave confinement using sawed jail bars. A railroad worker alerted authorities as two files were found on the jail window ledge. no inmates escaped and damage was repaired.

Pubco Petroleum Co. plans a wildcat drill less than a mile south of Gurley at Sterling No. 1 in the NE NE NE of 6-15-49. The rig moves in today with closest production in Egging Field three miles southeast. Kingwood Oil Co. wells Thompson No. 1 in Thompson Field near the Sioux Ordnance Depot, core from 4,720 to 4,752 feet. The Red Willow County discover has McCook area alight with new offset to the field opener. Superior Oil Co. reported Stephens No. 1 drill stem test yields 270 feet oil and 100 feet mud. First producer Barger No. 1 pumps 50 to 70 barrels daily. a tank battery is erected. Oil from the Kansas City deep formation, about 3,800 feet down, is implied.

Alfalfa Fire Destroys 30 Tons At Olsen Farm

A blaze on the Leo O. Olsen farm 13 miles west of Lorenzo destroyed nearly 30 tons of baled alfalfa last night before Sidney and Potter volunteer fire departments contained it. The fire’s origin was not immediately determined.

I L Pindell Cheyenne County Clerk is the leading designee for the Sidney postmaster appointment joined by Warren Cunningham in farm management and Weldon Stewart, the acting postmaster. Lad Moore Dies In Texas Hospital

Ladner Moore 41, former Sidney resident, died Sunday morning after surgery Saturday in a Bonham Texas hospital. Funeral was held in Marshall Texas. Survivors include widow Annie of Sidney and two sons, Lady Jr. and James. He came to Sidney as Plains Oil Mills officer and later ran a cafe. He had flown civilian missions in China and served as chief adviser on air power to the Dutch East Indies government.
