Hail Damages Valley Crops In Bayard Area

A severe hailstorm in Bayard last week wrecked crops across two miles by ten miles. Frank Durnal and Paul Sandoz suffered the heaviest losses with nearly 200 bushels of apples plums grapes and small fruit destroyed. Alfalfa fields left to ripen for seed also suffered heavy losses.

Miss Emilie Cunningham Enters Nurses Training in Omaha

Miss Emilie Cunningham reached Omaha last Friday and entered the Methodist hospital to pursue a three year course as a trained nurse. She is on probation for two months and may drop out then if she decides nursing is not for her. The Kimball Observer predicts she will complete the course and graduate at the head of her class.

Former Sidney Girl Married in St Louis

Misa Abbie Shuman of Denver formerly of Sidney married Herbert Munson manager of the Inside Inn in St Louis on July 14. Mina Shuman with her aunt and two cousins arrived in St Louis the day before. The couple will reside at the Inside Inn on the exposition grounds during the fair.

Lincoln News reports Cheyenne county does not possess a steamboat. An assessor had listed a steamboat at 80 cents but explained it is an Indian canoe not worth the listed amount.
