Charles Miller a Wisconsin resident filed a homestead on land featuring Court House Rock and Jail Rock in Pumpkinseed Valley. The two basalt-buttes rise sharply and have long marked the western Nebraska landscape, once near the California trail. Miller plans to return in a couple of months to settle the claim.

Judge Grimes from North Platté arrived Saturday to hear P H N Schlesinger before the Village Board as applicant for a saloon license. After court guidance, the board agreed to issue if preliminaries were met, grant made, suit dismissed, plaintiff Schlesinger paying costs.

Golden Elk Mining Co is newly incorporated by E B Sager Lute Dickinson Bert Mills with George Sager Grover Dickinson as directors. It controls about 1000 acres near surface rich gold with tin also present. water and timber are plentiful. Telegraph salutes the venture and hopes for a bonanza akin to Homestake.
