Wildlife club opposes pheasant season in Cheyenne County

Cheyenne County Wildlife Club with 1204 members has opposed this year’s pheasant season, citing last year’s long season as contributing to a bird shortage. Club president George Fleming cites farmers reports of few adult pheasants and broods, plus weather as factors. State Fish and Game Commission in Lincoln will set dates at August meeting, likely in late month, with federal authorities to decide migratory birds seasons. The commission welcomes letters, while no dove season will be held this year after legislative removal of the dove from the game bird group.
