Drum Richard Hayes aged 68 of Omaha died last night at Pioneer Memorial Hospital Dalton where he had been a patient since suffering a stroke on Saturday. A Swift and Company retiree he had been in Dalton to look after harvest interests. The body will be taken to Omaha for services and burial with Gehrig and Son Funeral Home in charge. He was born December 30 1891 in Belgrade Missouri and survived by his wife Alice and three daughters Juanita Landreth Stark City Missouri Peck Wichita Kansas and Lucille McCullough Neosho Missouri.

Thomas W. Niemoller 70 a Sidney resident for over four decades died Saturday at Memorial Hospital after two months as a patient. A machinist for Union Pacific before retirement six years ago he had been in failing health for about three years. Funeral services Wednesday at 2 p.m. from First Methodist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. He was born October 12 1888 in Tarkio Missouri and married Ida May Craig November 22 1908 at Fullerton Nebraska. Survivors include his wife son Gordon three grandchildren and sister Miss Nellie Niemoller.

New York Man Critically Injured In Mishap
A 26 year old New York City man Ralph Gonzales was critically injured early Saturday when his car hit a bridge four and a half miles east of here on Highway 30. The car rolled several times and traveled 450 feet. He sustained a crushed left shoulder a broken pelvis and serious internal injuries. He was listed in satisfactory condition at Sidney Memorial Hospital. Gonzales was transporting family possessions from Salt Lake City to New York when the crash occurred. His wife who had flown to New York later flew to Sidney. He mentioned Find my flashlight and a neat rolled stack of 25 twenty dollar bills was found in roadside weeds after the crash. Gonzales said a truck forced him off the road.

Sidney Volunteer firemen answered three fires Friday. A blaze 70 acres of wheat on the Robert Rauner farm east of Gurley caused an estimated 3000 in damage. Two combines cut the wheat to halt further loss. Firemen also fought a blaze at Lavern Flessner’s farm 16 miles northeast of Sidney destroying two acres of wheat worth 133. A grass fire two miles west of Sidney along the railroad right of way caused no damage.
