Storm Brings Sidney Rain Across the Area
A weekend storm dropped .96 inch of rain in Sidney and surrounding areas, ending a dry spell. Lightning struck the Cliff Jensen farm home and barn south of Sidney, injuring no one but tearing a barn side and knocking out power. The Nebraska Safety Patrol tower near Oshkosh also took a hit as fuses blew. Traffic slowed briefly as flooded low areas and a large chuckhole at 10th and Newton Streets required rerouting, with heavier rainfall reported north of the station near the airport. Fields remained soaked on Monday with up to near one and a half inches reported in parts of Cheyenne County.
