Three Year Old Boy Bitten by Dog in Sidney
Jeffrey Samson three years old son of Mr and Mrs Leo Samson at 2024 13th St was bitten on the lip shortly after 8 am Thursday by a dog owned by Fred Cronk. He was taken to Sidney Hospital for treatment while the dog is held for medical checks by authorities.

Infant Benny Rios Dies En Route To Hospital
Services were held at St Patrick's Catholic Church for five month old Benny Rios son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Rios of the SOC. He died Tuesday morning while being taken to a hospital at Julesburg. Rev Fr Albert Albel presided burial was at the Catholic Cemetery in Sidney. He is survived by his parents and one brother.

An unusual July heat wave in Sidney broke with a cold front bringing showers from Saturday to Tuesday night. The period saw highs of 104 to 107 degrees and record warmth earlier in July, with rainfall of .68 of an inch at Sidney Airport. Freak Blaze Burns Cutter At Schreiner Farm
A freak accident near Potter Oklahoma injured Jim Stover, 50, of Walters, with second degree burns to both hands and the left arm after a battery spark ignited gasoline-soaked rags used to clean a combine. He was treated at Sidney Hospital, in very good condition.

Sidneyite Faces Prison Term On Driving Charge
William A. Benkusky a 29 year old Sid ney resident was bound over to Cheyenne District Court after pleading guilty to a third offense drunken driving charge. He was arrested by Sidney Police Officer Ron Ahlberg while driving on city streets and bail was set at 300 dollars. Records show prior drunken driving convictions in January and December of last year and an earlier conviction in New Mexico in 1947.

Pick Up Crushes Man Near Kimball
A 24 year old man from Pulaski Mississippi, Billy Ray Thornton, was killed north of Stonehall Weld County when his pickup rolled off a gravel road near the Colorado border. He was thrown from the cab and crushed beneath the vehicle as it overturned. Thornton worked for Mid-Continent Supply Co. and was taken to Greeley.
