Food Shopper Decides Own Living Costs
University of Nebraska Extension specialist Ethel Diedrichsen argues shoppers’ habits raise food costs. Untidy displays, misplacement of items, repeated handling, damaged produce, and test-for-freshness actions force managers to rework shelves, discard goods, and raise prices. Shoplifting and inefficiencies add to expenses nationwide. Consumers should consider if their habits would pass an inspection test.
