Great-Grandsons Of Bounty Mutineers Live on Pitcairn

PITCAIRN ISLAND The great grandsons of the Bounty mutineers still live on Pitcairn. The island lacks a harbor and has no beach, forcing residents to row a 37 foot longboat through heavy surf to reach ships off the coast. Descendants of Captain Bligh's mutineers settled in 1790 after burning their ship. The current skipper is Andrew Young, a direct descendant, who mans the steering oar and serves as radio operator and postmaster, with a modern setup for South Pacific communication.
