The Cheyenne County Fair Association Directors met to consider advancing funds for permanent grounds. The petition urges building a track and permanent structures, with 25 percent paid immediately to finance current construction and 75 percent due September 1 1915 for the 1915 fair slated September 15 16 17 and 18.

The Lincoln Highway Association has allotted 2000 barrels of cement to Hall County for a seedling mile of the Lincoln Highway near Grand Island. Hall County secured the grant by earmarking 2000 for highway work, with a 24 foot concrete bridge already under construction and estimates drawn up for the mile. Construction will begin soon and about 1200 additional barrels of cement may be needed, with F. W. Ashton agreeing to secure it.
Lincoln reports July 13 filing to establish Sidney State Bank with 25000 capital. Applicants are J. C. McNish C. H. McNish and H. H. Ostenberg. Newton Medlock of Omaha joins to oversee operations. Medlock has been in Sidney this week.
A 24 year old son of H W Struble and son in law of O E Anderson of Potter Idaho drowned in the St Joe river near Avery on July 3 after a motor car trip with two friends. He and the others struggled in swift water. his body was recovered and buried at Potter Lutheran Church with Rev Hanson presiding. He leaves a wife a child and his parents and sister.
Mrs. A. M. Mack a traveling saleswoman for a maple sugar and candy concern stopped in town from Tuesday to Friday with her sister Mrs. R. D. Devine and family. Her current route takes her to Seattle.
Mrs Clyde Johnson in the west end of town lies seriously ill but shows slight improvement. A baby born to Mr and Mrs Johnson on Thursday died the same day, marking a tragic coincidence for the family and the community.
Mrs. George Kratz visited her son Earl here in the final days of the week asking residents if they have seen the John Deere Binder. If not, she asks to call Fundingsland Transfer Co. in Sidney to view the best constructed binder ever made.
Town residents Town, and Fred Seegar and wife drove to Kimball and back Wednesday in their car. Attorney O A Torgenson of Kimball Nebraska was a Wednesday caller in Sidney. Mr and Mrs Eli Henderson of Sidney Draw visited Wednesday with Mr and Mrs John Owens and Mr and Mrs John Bowman Wednesday who gave a dinner to several relatives and intimate friends. Lightning struck a hay stack for Nels Olson Tuesday afternoon and had it not been witnessed the entire stack might have been consumed. It was a beautiful sight to see a flame following each wire which bound the stack.
Engineer W. L. Hollister visited Sidney on Thursday to inspect the progress of the municipal light plant and review ongoing construction and completing works.
Mrs Margaret Pantenburg is visiting for a few weeks with her brother Arthur Pantenburg and his wife at McCook Nebraska.
J M Swenson and sister Vera visited the Heinzman ranch east of Dalton on Wednesday with Vera staying for a brief visit.
J A Bentley and family drove home Wednesday from Toledo where they had stayed for several weeks. He says the roads were the worst he has ever found them.
Mrs J H Birmingham and her daughter Beatrice and son Junior returned Sunday after spending two weeks visiting relatives in Valley Nebraska and St Joseph Missouri.
Mr and Mrs Herman Brauer and Mr and Mrs William Neinheiser arrived home Sunday after a month long stay at the Exposition. They reported a very enjoyable trip with many sights seen and experiences enjoyed.
Mrs Plains, guest of Mrs Hall, traveled back to Des Moines Iowa after a two week stay and a trip to the San Francisco exposition.
The ten year old son of George Dickenson at Sunol was bitten by a rattler on Tuesday. Prompt medical attention was given and with no further news, investigators hope the child is improving rapidly.
An auto party to Potter Wednesday included Attorneys Radcliffe and Tewell on legal business, Commissioner Troelstrup returning home, Ed Shoemaker and Miss Ann Radcliffe on a pleasure ride.
The school building and electric lighting plant are growing steadily and begin to take on imposing appearances. Poles have been strung out this week while a gang of men scrape them and dig the heels, signaling the near completion of the project.
The Carnation Club held its biweekly gathering Tuesday at Mrs. C. M. Andrews home two miles north of the city. Attendees enjoyed luncheon and a pleasant afternoon with an auto ride among the featured activities.
At Monday’s Village Board meeting Cc. P. Chambers was appointed City Judge and J. L. McIntosh became City Attorney. Town and county cases will be classified separately and no longer all fall under county jurisdiction.
The Christ's church Episcopal Guild and Sunday school held their annual picnic at the Olson ranch two miles west on Wednesday. Mrs. A. K. Greenlee, Mrs. McClenaghan, Mrs. Hitchcock, Mrs. E. P. Swan and Mrs. Frank Tobin led the committee. Children played games and the group enjoyed a five o'clock spread before returning home at seven.
Mrs T Howard of Sundl and her daughter Mrs L E Dyke with Gweneth Dyke returned Wednesday evening from a week long visit at Hastings Kearney and Lowell Nebraska. They visited W S Howard at Lowell once a grocery merchant in Sidney now retired enjoying savings of years with his family. The party stayed overnight at C C Jones home and returned Thursday to the Howard ranch at Sunol.

The marriage occurred quietly at the bride's home Monday July 12 at eight o'clock with Reverend May officiating. Only Dr. Frazey and wife attended. Bowman, a skilled machinist, and Cradit, a longtime Sidney resident, will reside in Sidney and receive many congratulations from the community.
Miss Olive Isabel Fullerton and Mr. Robert Simms of Dalton married at the bride’s parents home in Lodgepole last Wednesday July 7 in front of about forty relatives. Rev. John Stevens traveled 500 miles from Council Grove to officiate. The couple plan to settle near Dalton this fall. Telegraph offers best wishes.
Walter Rufenacht of Dalton and Mattie Bruns of Weyerts were married by the German minister at Weyerts on Wednesday July 14.
Fred Parks the local glove champion schedules a ten round bout with Jess Verbeck the North Platte Valley champion in Bridgeport on July 27. Arrangements are under way for a special train to run to the event.
