Midget Minstrels Delight City Crowd in Charity Show

Fishing Party Enjoys Ditch Outing Near North Sterling
Last Monday a fishing party at the North Sterling Ditch drew twenty six people in five cars. Participants included Frank Hand and family A A Rudd and family E J Sweet and daughter Irene and granddaughter John Lou and Julia Hajek C W Hornaday and family and Reverend May and family. They dined on the ground and nearly a hundred fish were caught. Returning to the Hand ranch, they held a fish fry supper. The day was fine and the party had a great time.

Fourth of July Picnic at Goldfish Ranch
A large Sunday gathering at Judge Chambers Goldfish ranch eleven miles west of Sidney featured a ball game bucking contest and a boxing match between C L Ivey and Chow ing. About two hundred attendees traveled from the divide draw and valley as baskets overflowed and ice cream freezers ran double shifts. Judge Chambers and family attended along with D R Jones Fred Seeger and James Reisdorff arriving by auto. Special prices on tires this week.

Tragic Drowning of Frank Robertson and Son Near Sidney
A father Frank Robertson and his son Guy drowned while working at a fence sixteen neighbors searched the North Sterling ditch. They were expert swimmers. possible cramps or undercurrent caused the tragedy near their homestead eighteen miles south of Sidney on Friday July 2. The boy exhausted, naked, and the father, found with shirt on and hands raised as if dressing. A heart rending calamity to a united family.

County Board Leases Site for Farm and Fair Grounds
The county commissioners on July 6 approve an eighty acre tract belonging to Char lie Trognitz west of his home for county use. The east forty is leased to the County Fair Association for permanent fair grounds. Boundary work and plowing for fall wheat begin, with a Lincoln Highway adjacent site and a flat terrain. Cheyenne County Fair Association officers include Gus Wellner as President and Charlee Portrey as Vice President. A directors meeting is slated for July 10 to plan fair grounds improvements and set a fair date.
