Post Office announces airmail will depart Sidney twice daily for several weeks during runway extension work. Denver connections must reach the post office by 6 30 a m, or 8 30 p m for Rapid City connections. Two Frontier planes will serve Sidney starting Saturday July 15 with a 7 11 a m Scottsbluff to Denver leg and a 9 15 p m Denver to Scottsbluff return. Convair 580 service expected by August 15 as weather delayed concrete work on taxi strips and ramps and final runway pouring was completed last week.

Western Nebraska United Chambers of Commerce adopts a unanimous resolution urging a redesigned I-80 interchange in the Big Springs area to better serve uninterrupted east west traffic. Potter man pleads guilty in county court
Richard L. Wills of Potter paid 142.50 in fines and costs after a one car wreck on US 30 three miles west of Sidney. He pled guilty to driving while intoxicated and speeding, receiving 100 for intoxication, 35 for speeding, and 7.50 in costs. His 1967 sports car was a total loss.

Nebraska Safety Patrol reports a one car rollover on a county road east of Sidney. Gary Ammerman of Sidney drove a 1963 convertible south of Mayfair when it left the road and overturned. Damage estimated at 600 to 700 dollars with no injuries. Trooper Reese investigated.

Henry Theophilus 86 a 50year Peetz resident died Thursday at Logan County hospital in Sterling after a month in Rest Home. Funeral 2 pm Saturday at Peetz Evangelical United Brethren Church burial Peetz cemetery. Born London June 13 1881 he immigrated with parents at age two. Married Fannie James in 1909 they farmed long near Peetz. Mystery Solved Its King Snake Near Banner County
A red white and black King snake about ten inches long was found at an oil well cement sack pile 25 miles north of Potter in Banner County. Believed to have arrived from New Mexico via cement shipments, the harmless reptile is preserved in alcohol and displayed in a barber shop jar. Identification was by two encyclopedia illustration experts.

Christine Pohl’s Condition Remains Unchanged
Christine Pohl, 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Pohl, remains in Bergan Memorial Hospital Omaha in serious condition after a June 24 horseback riding accident. She has been in a coma since the incident. doctors hopeful she will emerge. Her rescuers, including Eddie Brauer, performed artificial respiration at the scene. Several softball games are being organized to raise funds for the Pohl family.

Vandals Strike Sidney In Three Reports
Three vandalism incidents were reported in Sidney. Darrell Hunt, 1452 19th, reported the windshield of his parked car broken. Wheatbelt Public Power District reported damage to a company truck.
