Two representatives from Nebraska Panhandle Community Action Agency in Sidney seek an administrator for a summer youth program for 12 to 15 year olds from lower income families. The paid position, open salary depending on experience, targets attitude development with arts crafts and field trips to local businesses. The program may start next week and run to late August, with a similar effort in Scottsbluff already under way.

Frank Geller Dies After Long Illness
Frank A. Geller age 82 a 50 year Dalton resident died Tuesday at a Bridgeport Nursing Home after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 AM at Dalton Presbyterian Church with Rev Melvin Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Dalton Cemetery. Arrangements by Holewick Funeral Home Bridgeport. Memorials may be sent to Dalton Presbyterian Church or the cancer fund. He was born August 2 1884 in Wisconsin. He taught in Wisconsin and South Dakota and married Flo M Brennan December 27 1914 in Egan South Dakota. Surviving are his widow two daughters Mrs Lucille Long Pasadena California and Mrs Marjorie Newell Pierre South Dakota three sons Roger Pasadena Robert Fort Collins Cole and Charles Dalton three brothers Harry Evanston Wyoming Floyd Madison Wisconsin Stanley Janesville Wisconsin four sisters Mrs Ida Fillback Aberdeen South Dakota Mrs Edna Fleming Bagley Wisconsin Mrs Ethel Brennan Janesville Wisconsin Mrs Florence Lyon Lexington Kentucky and 15 grandchildren.

George Partin, 18, arraigned in County Court on burglary charges for Lee Department Store theft last Saturday night. He, formerly from Detroit, held on $500 bond and bound over to District Court after waiving counsel and preliminary hearing. Police and sheriff jointly arrested him. more suspects possible. Jan Meier Hurt In Amarillo Car Crash
Former Cheyenne County resident Jan Meier aged 27 is in critical condition after a Saturday night automobile crash near Amarillo Texas. His car rolled several times trapping him under it causing severe head injuries along with pelvic and collar bone fractures. He underwent emergency brain surgery and has remained in a coma. The Meier family has lived in Texas for about two years where he works for an oil company. He is in Northwest Texas Hospital Amarillo Texas. His parents Mr and Mrs Donald W Meier flew to Amarillo Saturday night.

Sidney School District appoints new biology teacher
At Monday’s board meeting Sidney School District hired Wil bert Higuchi as senior high biology teacher. Higuchi has civil service experience overseas and is attending Chadron State College summer classes. Darrell Hunt reported on Title I materials, subjects, and schedule for North Ward Elementary summer program.

White Sox Draft Ottoson
Ken Ottoson 21 son of Mr and Mrs Lowell Ottoson was drafted by the Chicago White Sox. Area scout Bill Kimball said Ken may sign now and go to the Appetton League in Florida or wait until spring. He plans to return to Chadron State College as a senior in physical education and directing. He reported to the Basin League in Valentine, Nebraska for the summer. His wife Coleen and son Tony will stay in Potter until fall.

Laundry Sale Is Announced In Sidney
Sidney Laundry Dry Cleaning and Linen Supply Co at 1106 Grand St has been purchased by Bob and Dick Fuller. The plant was bought from Jack O Brien who moved to Omaha to work for a dry cleaning firm. Dick Fuller plans to speed up service possibly with more staff. He notes previous limits caused problems but expects faster service ahead. Dick Fuller comes from Anaheim California where he was bank vice president and manager. He lives in Sterling Colorado with his wife Anne and three children and runs the Sterling Laundry. Bob Fuller runs an accounting and tax service in Sidney and chairs Safeplay, a local athletic equipment firm.

Minor Accident on Clinois Involving Two Drivers
A minor traffic collision occurred at 11 35 a m last Monday on Clinois. Frank Frauendorfer aged 75 of Sidney pulled from the curb into the path of an eastbound car driven by Kenneth D Call 32 of Potter. Only minor damage to both cars and no tickets were issued.

City council approved three building permits totaling 29750 Monday night. Ed Meyer received the largest for a new residence on south 11th Ave. T R Tillotson was issued a 4000 remodel permit and Lewis Johnson a 750 carport permit. Strange Looking Snake Captured in Banner County
A ten inch snake with white, black and orange diagonal stripes attracted attention in Sidney. Found at an oil well near Banner County north of Potter, it struck when approached. Captured by rig worker and brought to town for identification. It resembled a western coral snake or shovel-nosed snake, but no test was made.

Grain theft hits Peetz elevator and Sterling truck yard
A Peetz Farmers Elevator manager reports 550 bushels of treated barley valued at 583 dollars stolen Friday night after thieves unlocked a door and backed a truck inside.
