Meter fines increase ordinance is requested
City Attorney Jack Peetz was instructed by the City Council Monday night to draft an ordinance to raise parking meter fines from 25 cents to 1 dollar, effective Aug. 1, with an ordinance required for the move. The council advanced development plans for the east Interstate 80 interchange and approved alley vacation aiding Clark Chevrolet, while establishing stop signs and considering flood relief. An Olsson Associates contract for the south booster pumping station and elevated water tank was approved at 5 percent of construction costs, contingent on development. The alley vacated will revert to abutting properties. utilities may access via easements and fencing with keys for suppliers. Ed Haupt was absent. Mayor directed department heads to study Skrdtland’s drainage suggestion near 9th and Newton.

The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce retail committee finalized plans for Appreciation Day to be held with the sidewalk sale on Saturday July 30. A free hamburger feed will be served from 11 30 a m to 1 p m at the north end of 10th Avenue. The Ladies Division also schedules a Christmas in July Bazaar in the former Powell Hardware building. The committee expects the event to be bigger and better than previous years.

White House mails diverted to FEC over universal voter registration
About 114000 pieces of mail addressed to President Carter were sent by White House staff to the Federal Elections Commission though the FEC has no jurisdiction over universal voter registration.
