John Calvin McLaughlin, a farmer living on a rural property about 150 miles northwest of Sidney, died at his home late Wednesday night likely from a heart attack after finishing farm chores. Funeral services are planned for Saturday at 10 a.m. from The Rice Funeral.

Two Fire Alarms Reported By Local Fire Department
After weeks of rest the fire department answered two alarms Monday. The first occurred around 6 p m at an east town shed ignited by a nearby brush blaze and was quickly put out. The second at about 7 30 p m was reported by John Borland as smoke poured from the rear of the A F Weber home next door with no one inside, firefighters faced entry difficulties.

Madman Redeker Taken From Bus In Sidney Chase
Nicolas Redeker a 52 year old Rochester N Y landscape gardener was held in the city jail after a violent outburst aboard an Interstate bus. Believing someone planned to kill him he assaulted passengers including women, fled from police, and was recaptured in front of the Fox theatre with help from Night Marshal Renfield bus driver and two others. Doctor Roche attended him but his condition remained unsettled.
