A Norwalk Ohio family led by Mr Russell Oliver travels west in a homemade covered wagon with four children and two Belgian Clydesdale horses. They stopped in the Sidney area on a long across Nebraska to Oregon trip, living along highways, camping, working briefly for supplies, and receiving mixed kindness from locals. Fireworks Display To Be Friday At Point of Rocks
Cheyenne County will hold its official Fourth of July fireworks Friday at Point of Rocks, joint show by Dix and Potter fire departments. Due to the Dalton fireworks halt, larger crowds are expected. A countywide, rotating observance may begin in 1971. Nearby Oshkosh plans a large free July 4 celebration with parade, prizes, free barbecue, races, shows, and two free street dances.

Late Evening Storm Drops Up To .80 Inch Rainfall
A late Tuesday downpour centered on Chappell Lodgepole and Sidney delivered up to .80 inch of rain. Rain began around 11 p.m. and continued after midnight with varying amounts and some thunder. Heavier rainfall occurred in the southeast. totals included .80 in Sidney and .70 in Lodgepole, with other spots recording .60 to .80. Hail was not reported and cooler conditions followed, though heat and humidity rose again by midweek.
