He urged WIFE action in eight areas including promoting efficiency, revising regulations, boosting public understanding, and supporting parity loan policies. Carlson also noted beef grading changes and a Beef Research and Information Act proposal. A meeting plan and protest deadline for railroad rate hikes were announced for Cheyenne County.

The Sidney City Council unanimously approved two agreements detailing use of grants to buy a 40 acre industrial site east of Sidney for 49000 and set a budget for the land. The meeting featured Star Aviation president Bob Emch proposing a possible supplemental flight from Denver with stops at Alliance Chadron and Gillette, aimed at expanding service and trust for future growth. The council tabled action pending Frontier Airlines plans clarification and also heard a report on a city forestry program to guide long range tree management with a future tree board to oversee implementation.

Fire Probe at Sidney Junior High Under Way
Investigators from several agencies continue examining a Saturday morning blaze in the Sidney Junior High band room. Deputy State Fire Marshal Jim Kuticka reports suspicious circumstances with no hard evidence yet. Fires were set in a music rack and a trash can at opposite ends. custodian Alma Cole alerted responders. The Nebraska State Patrol assists in the probe.

ESU 14 Reelects Officers At Sidney Board Meeting
ESU No 14 in Sidney re elected Donald Haldeen as president and Gordon French as vice president along with Mervin Jensen Betty Shields and Bill Kelley in other posts. Marc Wempel was named attorney replacing Tom Dorwart. The board approved a cooperative purchasing pact with ESU 17 and continued Panhandle Education Corp payments. The next meeting moved to February 28.
