Snowfall Brings Relief to Western Nebraska

Snow fell across the state including Chadron Sidney Alliance Harrison Ogallala and Kimball with 3 to 12 inches in spots. It eased the drought mood, refreshed dry soils and aided dormant winter wheat though subsoil and surface deficits remain. Snow in the mountains boosts spring rain prospects. Nebraska farmers welcomed the moisture though deficits persist, with soil water shortage the worst since 1956 per Arnold Nordquist.
