Sidney geologist Robert L. Cramer reports a new natural gas well No 1-A Hawkins about six miles west of Lorenzo in Cheyenne County. Initial tests indicate potential for about six million cubic feet per day. Drilled by Murfin Drilling Co and tied to Marathon Oil Co, the Rohlfing Field discovery may tap gas in the J-2 sand with early logs and casing completed. The Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has been advised, and gas is planned for transportation to Marathon's Southwest Sidney Plant, amid rising local demand.

Condemnation Actions Target Minuteman Sites Near Warren AFB
The U S government has begun condemnation proceedings against 435.06 acres in Cheyenne and Kimball counties Nebraska. August Jurgens Dies Suddenly Rites Tuesday
August Everett Jurgens 61 of Sidney died Sunday at his home after living in Weyerts and Sundl areas before moving to Sidney in 1940 to work in trucking. Survived by sister Mrs. William Frerichs and brothers John and Alvin. Services Tuesday 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Henry Monnich officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Craig Mortuary in charge.
