Two Sales Boost Cheyenne County Livestock Reputation
Cheyenne Countys livestock standing rises after two sales in Denver and Chicago. A one year old bull Golden B Tone sired by Colorado Bocaldo Tone placed fourth at the National Western Livestock Show in Denver, selling for 7500 dollars to Oliver M Wallops Canyon Ranch at Big Horn Wyoming. The calf sired by the same bull also did well in Denver though not offered for sale. An offer of 1500 dollars for the calf was refused Monday at the Chicago Stock Yards. A shipment of high choice steers by Lee Hagemeister of Potter topped the day at 21.50 per hundredweight, the highest price for that grade at the market according to a yard reporter.

Majors Trim Sails Wildcatters Hold Key To '55 Oil Work In Cheyenne County
Industry circles say Cheyenne County oil activity in 1955 hinges on independents and wildcatters. Ohio Oil Co trims its Sidney district budget, while independents push drillings north of Potter and around Banner and Kimball Counties. Farmout deals loom as leases near term end, with significant results from Ryan, Gem, Wytex, Sure, and The Texas Co. Southeast Cheyenne remains largely unexplored, with 160 square miles and under 20 tests, possibly due to subsurface seismic questions though development elsewhere argues against that.
