Thirty prospective Bayard Jaycees attended an extension meeting sponsored by the Sidney Jaycees in Bayard. A core of 15 Sidney members began forming a Bayard chapter, with more steps planned and Kenny Bowman named president. The Sidney extension pushed Nebraska to eight Jaycee chapters in 1953, the state achieving its quota. a national award will be presented at Hastings in late January.

Parole Hearing Set for 13 Inmates by Nebraska Board
The Nebraska Pardon Board fixed February 18 for parole hearings touching 13 inmates from state prisons including two life-termers. Notables: Orville Childers of Sidney jailed since 1937 for first degree murder, and Arthur Floth of Scottsbluff sentenced to life for murder in 1938. Childers denied clemency February 9. Floth had a prior clemency denial. Also heard are Ray P. Smith, jailed since 1950 for rape, and Leland L. Hackett, sentenced in Cheyenne County in 1952 for grand larceny and bench parole violation.

Mrs Matilda Peters 76 died Monday at her son Freds home 625 Jackson Street Funeral services set for Friday at two in the Craig Mortuary with burial in Sidney cemetery beside her husband Henry who died in 1940 She was a native of Iowa and married to Henry Peters in 1898 at Lexington Nebraska. She had lived with her son for two years.

Ira Steward will continue as chairman of the Cheyenne County Hospital Association after a Thursday night board meeting. Rudy Munderloh is vice-chairman, Jack H. Lowe secretary, and Mrs. Julia O’Connell treasurer. An executive committee includes Steward Munderloh Deaver Lowe and Winter. The group plans rapid planning and construction, with four women directors forming a committee for essential assignments. State and federal advisers approved a mostly one-story plan and favored a south part site donated by Dr. C. B. Dorwart, though it may require a Lodgepole Creek bridge over the Burlington crossing.

Mrs Edith Withers Meyer Rites Set In Lodgepole
Final rites for Edith Withers Meyer 76 of Lodgepole will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Lodgepole Methodist Church. The Rev C B Fitz will officiate and burial will be beside her husband in Lodgepole Cemetery. She died Saturday at Chappell Hospital after a brief illness. Arrangements are by The Craig Mortuary. She was born October 15, 1876 in Mount Morris Illinois and moved to Lodgepole in 1885. She married Oscar Meyer in 1899 and they had five children four of whom survive Edith Meyer Scottsbluff Hazel Meyer Billings Clarence Meyer Lodgepole Harriet Caldwell Dixon grandchildren one great grandchild and three brothers and three sisters also survive. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Cheyenne County won a jury verdict condemning school land for the fairgrounds, receiving 5959.16 for 40 acres, over the appraised 2500 and near the 5000 county settlement. Mrs Jensen rites set in Dalton for Gertrude Jensen
Gertrude A Fullerton Jensen 62 of Dalton died at Scotts Bluff Hospital on her birthday January 18 after about a year illness.
