In the Sidney American Legion basketball league the fourth and fifth rounds are set for Wednesday and Thursday at City Auditorium. The third round features Kimball versus Knights of Columbus at 7 pm followed by Sidney Legion vs Sunol at 8 pm, with Gurley and Peetz on byes. Thursday brings Knights of Columbus to play Gurley at 7 pm and Sidney Legion against Peetz at 8 pm while Sunol and Kimball have byes.
About 300 bicycles received Scotch lights Sunday in a Junior Chamber of Commerce safety project. Headquarters were at the Hahler Motor Company building on Jackson between 11th and 12th. Another session will install lights on remaining bikes. Riders were urged to keep safety rules in mind.

Kimball has two Freshmen wins over Sidney in prior seasons and is expected to challenge Coach Maley's Frosh who seek their tenth win. Kimball features Frosh Clay and Good. Sidney likely starts Burr Harden Waddell McHugh and Wamsley.
Sidney High School adds a 1948 game with Gothenburg to the schedule. Coach Leo Shuman previews an annual home and away series. Tonight Sidney hosts Sterling, a team they lost to 34 20 on Sterling’s floor earlier this season.
The game between St. Patrick's Academy and Dix Friday night was cancelled and will likely be rescheduled for February, says St. Pat's coach Tom Dineen. The Irish were to play St. Mary's of Cheyenne here last night and will travel to Julesburg Wednesday for a game.

The Irish of St. Patrick's dropped a second game in eight starts after a stubborn Oshkosh squad beat them 29 to 22. Oshkosh led 11 to 8 at halftime, saw the Irish pull ahead to 14 to 10, but key players Pat Heaton and Keith Peetz left the game in the third quarter as the period ended with Oshkosh clinging to a 15 to 14 edge.
Oshkosh counted three free throws to pull ahead 19 17 with three minutes left as the Irish racked nine fouls in the last two minutes. Oshkosh held the locals to five baskets while the Irish hit nine from the floor.
