86 Year Old Man Dies of Heart Attack in Sidney
Frank McCausland 86 died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday night at his daughter's home in Sidney after living in Harrison County Missouri most of his life. Survived by daughter Mrs. W R Jones eleven grandchildren and one great grandson. a daughter and wife predeceased him. Services held Thursday at Craig Home for Funerals with Rev Walter L Jewett preaching. Interment Greenwood Cemetery.

Elevator Fire Threatens Lodgepole Structure
Fire damaged the Farmers Elevator's new addition at Lodgepole on Wednesday morning. The Lodgepole fire department contained the blaze before it spread to the adjacent old elevator. The fire started from a salamander on the work deck at the top of the addition.

All remaining Italian Service Units at Sioux Ordnance Depot have left for the east coast to be shipped to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. They will be replaced by German prisoners of war from Scotts Bluff. Over four hundred Italians left Sidney Monday on the first leg of their journey to Europe, comprising the 70th and 122nd ISU companies and the HQ Detachment 305th IQ Br. The ISUs, entered as POWs in 1944 and 1945, have aided in meeting shipping dates on time.

Lieutenant Commander Chris W. Bitner 29 Navy physician and former Sidney resident returns to civilian life after 45 months in the medical corps. He will resume practice with Dr. Hull A. Cook in Sidney around February 1. Bitner served at Bethesda aboard USS Laramie in the European Theater and at Port Hueneme. He was rescued from icy Atlantic waters when his ship sank. He and his family plan to reside in a new home on Newton Street.

Oil Bulk Station Blaze Earlier at Texaco Plant
