Carl Christ Starts Chappell School Addition Work

Carl Christ, general contractor for the Chappell Elementary School addition, began preliminary construction Monday. Sidney contractor won the bid in December for the W. M. Wiest school addition. Sallstrom Plumbing handles the mechanical contract and Snell Electric the electrical. The new section will extend the south end of the current building and connect via an office, with three floors and a roof at the existing level. The office area will align with current classrooms, five new rooms a few steps lower, and the lower levels will house a multi purpose room and kitchen. The plan eliminates expensive filling and yields a high ceiling in the auditorium-like space, according to Supt. Hasemeyer.
