Business School Plans Outlined To Educators

H D McClanahan director of the Business Institute of St Louis spoke at Sidney Nebraska’s inaugural banquet at Fort Sidney Motor Hotel. The private Sidney Business Institute aims to serve a 14 county area and will offer a two year program in business administration and executive secretarial work with no automation courses initially. The school will seek part time work for male students and housing options for female students, with no dormitories, and fees uniform for all courses.

PVO Seeks Irrigated Safflower Test in Sidney Area

Pacific Vegetable Oil Corp. now owns the local safflower plant in Sidney and seeks irrigated acreage farmers to experiment with small safflower plots. Ned Robinson says potential yields could reach 3,000 pounds per acre, boosting regional income. Trailer Armada to Park Overnight in Sidney Next Summer

Farmers Union Annual Meeting To Be Jan. 19

The Cheyenne County Farmers Union sets its annual meeting for Tuesday Jan 19 at 730 p m in the Yendis Cafe. Les Purdy manager of the Omaha office of The Cooperative Marketing Association will be the main speaker. He previously managed the Farmers Union Coop Gas Oil Co in Sidney in 1942. Officers will be elected and resolutions acted on for the February state convention. Present officers include Allen Brauer president Adolph Fastenau secretary treasurer Kenneth Nienhuser legislative delegate Henry Gell Russell Olsen Verne Brauer directors.

Bid Opening Set for Sidney Library Project

City officials expect bids for Sidney Public Library within six weeks with funds from local and federal sources. The 7,900 square foot single-story building on 12th Ave and Jackson St will replace the 50-year-old facility at 8th Ave and Illinois St, include bookmobile storage, and accommodate expansion to 30,000 volumes.
