Sidney residents hear of G A R installation and banquet results, county land sales, and county commissioners doings. Key items include a new power house engine nearing operation, a legal move by O Ferguson to Sidney practice law, and a Royal Neighbors and Modern Woodmen installation with an ample refreshments spread. Ira Jordan, hired at several northern county ranches, is jailed in Sidney on horse stealing charges. Captured last Monday at Orlando in Devel county, he faces a preliminary hearing next Monday after being arraigned before Judge Tucker. Witnesses Frank Fitzpatrick Bayard Tom Burk Bridgeport and Wm DeBailey Banner county each report losses and implicate others in the rustling scheme.
The home of Mr and Mrs Jacob Mayer in Ickes spoke sorrow on Wednesday as their daughter Olie sixteen died after a brief illness. The funeral led by Rev James was held Thursday at the local cemetery near the Mayer home, and the family received many expressions of sympathy.
C N Coates formerly agent at Lodgepole now agent at Hillsdale was injured yesterday when a board left on the track by signal workers was struck by a fast train and hurled against him on the depot platform. He was taken to Cheyenne for treatment and is reported likely to recover.
The Sidney coal situation is unsatisfactory with little danger of famine. Rock Springs coal has been scarce all winter and the company agent said there will be practically no more coal from the mines this season. However, abundant poorer grades Hanna and Maitland remain, ensuring fuel for warmth and cooking.
The Sidney Nebraska post office lists unclaimed letters including W L Frederick Johan Peters W A Hopkins Geo R Wallace Mrs E Garrete Mrs Oh BE McLt Jos Brown and others. Postmaster notes advertised letters require claim. An electric pianola pours popular airs at Capitol saloon.
The 1907 official proceedings report a total expense estimate of 37 400 dollars for Cheyenne County in Sidney Nebraska. The board approved claims for the general and bridge funds and set appropriations for counties roads, courts, bridges, and soldiers relief. Appointments to the Soldiers relief commission and bond filings are noted, with adjournment to February 11, 1907.

Fairbanks Morse & Co. wholesale dealers in engines pumps and wind mills seek a Sidney warehouse as a distribution point for west Nebraska. L Z Spindler of Bayard reportedly died Tuesday after falling from a bluff while gathering wood. A search later located his body.
A casket bearing the remains of an Indian who died of typhoid fever in Lawrence Kansas was moved from the Union Pacific to the Burlington for transit to Lodge Grass Montana for burial. Mr and Mrs Miles and their daughters returned to Brownell Hall on Sunday evening after a holiday visit with their parents.
Dr Stewitts accompanied his daughter Misa Marguerite to Brownell Hall on Monday and plans to return home Wednesday, according to local society notes.
