Judge C. E. Benschoter, who served 28 years on the Sheridan County bench, retired January 1. He was appointed in 1937 to fill a vacancy and was later re elected seven times. Notable moments include five weddings in one day in 1941 and a 26 criminal case day in 1962. Wendall Hills succeeds him as judge. Directors of Cattle Capital Rodeo Inc voted to hold the 1965 Alliance Rodeo on July 24 and 25. Negotiations are under way with Summit Rodeo Corp to supply stock for the RCA approved rodeo. The board kept entry fees and prize money at 1964 levels to keep Sand Hills cowboys as main contestants.
