Oil Industry Shatters Records in 1954 Mountain West
Denver reports that the Rocky Mountain oil sector set drilling and production records in 1954. More than 4200 wells were drilled across 11 states, Colorado led with 1358 wells, and total footage surpassed 22.44 million feet. New producing areas in Arizona, Nevada, and South Dakota joined the region, with Utah and Nevada leasing surging. Production topped half a million barrels per day, and Petroleum Information forecast further 1955 gains.

Hospital benefit show planned for high school auditorium
Plans firming for a hospital benefit show at the high school auditorium next month. Marilyn Kennedy says the event may run two nights if advance sales demand it, with a set date of Tuesday Feb 1 and a possible repeat show the next night. Proceeds go to the hospital fund, with tickets to be sold by the ladies auxiliary aiming for 1500 at one dollar each. donors include Claude Biggs, Ralph and a Craig, Gertrude Stokes, J. Wo Vaughn, Verna Robinson, Jack Fakely, Rudy's employees, Louis Schmale, and others, contributing toward the drive that has surpassed $17,000 toward a $30,000 goal.
