Charges Pending Over Stab Death At Kimball
Kimball County authorities probe a Sunday morning stabbing that killed Emmett Red Johnson a 45 year old farm worker. A man known as Pleso or Stan Statler 44 was taken into custody and is jailed awaiting charges as detectives follow leads from Johnsons last night hours. Rex King City Patrolman arrived first and noted the body was still warm indicating a recent death. Johnson suffered a single chest stab wound from a narrow blade knife piercing his heart. Statler and Johnson were longtime farm workers in the Kimball area.

Don Etherton Dies Saturday at 34 in Sidney
Donald Ray Etherton 34 died Saturday morning at his parents home after a heart attack. Funeral services Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home with military burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Born Oct 2, 1923 in Sidney, he served in the U S Navy starting 1942 and received a medical discharge in 1946. He leaves his parents, a sister Mrs. Vivian Kretz of Vallejo, Calif., and two brothers Sgt. Daniel Etherton at Scott AFB, Ill., and A 3c Raymond Etherton with the 1605th ABG in the Azores. A sister Bonnie preceded him in 1936.

Booking On Driving Count Is Dismissed

Ohio Oil to resume drilling in Cheyenne County early next week

Bear Donations To Be Held In Fund
Citizens in the area donated 125 to purchase two Himalayan bears. The funds will be placed in a separate fund for similar community projects. The bears were obtained by the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Ed Bauman after the city council limited the local animal collection to a bird sanctuary. Stan Juelfs of Buffalo Bend bought the bears for their original cost and is expanding a growing wild animal display that draws tourist interest.
