Soil Bank Farmers May Retire All Land Under Plan
A Sidney meeting at the City Auditorium Tuesday night will explain a new Conservation Reserve System allowing Nebraska farmers to retire entire farms from production. Farmers may bid per acre for soil, water, forestry and wildlife goals, with up to 10 000 dollars per bid and five to ten year contracts. Bids must be filed by January 31, 1958 with county ASC offices using CSS-842 and CSS-811 forms, with price entered by the producer in a sealed envelope.

Riggert Youth Dies in Nebraska 302 Toll Rise
The 1957 Nebraska traffic toll reached 302 with the deaths of Oakley John Riggert, 19, of Hoskins, and his father W J Riggert, 60, in Cheyenne County. The wreck near Lodgepole also injured Mrs Banks. Funeral services for father and son were set for Norfolk. Oakley had been a student in Ames Iowa. The year ended with 302 fatalities, down from 315 in 1956.
