Cold Week Halts Wheat Growth Here
A Nebraska weekly federal report says lower temperatures last week halted wheat growth after it began to green up. Moisture was helpful though light in parts of the Panhandle and southern Nebraska. Some counties feared green wheat would suffer from the cold, but overall sentiment was favorable. Corn was picked where soil had frozen. snow blocked northeastern harvesting. Veelin Livingston of Sidney was elected chairman of the Cheyenne County extension sponsoring board at a recent meeting. Cloud Seeders Drive Campaign for 1952 Funds

Two Car Collision Damages $100 In Gurley
A Wednesday two car collision in Gurley caused about $100 damage to a 1951 Oldsmobile owned by the Oldsmobile division and driven by Stanley A Kern of Casper Wyoming. The Nebraska Highway Safety Patrol reported the crash occurred around 4:55 p.m. when a 1948 International pickup hauling a butane tank trailer, driven by Tom H Ellis of Bayard, turned into a service station and the Oldsmobile, following behind, attempted to pass and collided. Damage was limited to the Oldsmobile.

Sidney City Council discussed traffic hazards and authorized City Manager Virgil Knowles and Chief Sol Willis to implement measures. Stop signs will make 19th Avenue a four way stop at 19th and Newton where a fatality occurred last week, and Newton to 10th Avenue will also be a stop street with 13th and Newton a four way intersection.
