Three Wildcats Announced For County Drilling
Three new wildcat drilling projects were announced in Cheyenne County this week. Ohio Oil Co. plans a test on the Will Sparks farm northeast of Sidney, between East Gurley and Huntsman fields. An independent venture will drill in a state school section in the county's southwest corner. Equipment also moved for the Perle Smith Hand No. 1, six miles south of Sidney on Lester Hand's land, with spudding anticipated.

Water Recovered At Munshaw Well Near Dalton
The Sinclair Oil Co. Munshaw No. 1 well a mile northwest of Dalton yielded sixty feet of salt water in the first drill stem test from 4546 to 4562 feet in the Dakota beach. Sinclair planned another test while coring advanced. Peterson No. 1 reached 3830 feet with conclusive results expected by week’s end.

Ohio’s Marlow test will be known as the Sparks No 1 in the SE SENE of Section 29-15-49. The No 1 rig has moved in, with geophysical work hinting at a positive high, though company officials remain cautious about unproved-area production. Mrs. Art Kenfield is treated in a Southern California hospital after a late Thursday crash four and a half miles west of Sutherland. Her car skidded on ice and rolled into a ditch. Nebraska Highway Safety patrol noted $600 and $250 damage estimates, with Cheyenne County Sheriff W. W. Schulz reporting the Plymouth damage tentative at $250.

Entomologists Watch For Greenbugs In Nebraska Fields
University of Nebraska entomologists will monitor greenbug infestations this spring and advise wheat growers on seriousness. Past records show greenbugs are only sometimes serious north of the Kansas line, with spring grains damaged more often than winter wheat. Greenbugs migrate from Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, feeding on oats, wheat, and barley. heavy infestations turn plants yellow and kill them. High soil fertility is a defense. chemical sprays available to farmers include benzene hexachloride and lindane. Parathion and Tetraethyl pyrophosphate are used but hazardous for farmers to handle without expertise.
