The Sidney Civic Music Association launches its fourth annual membership drive with a 6:30 dinner at the Methodist Church for workers captains and division chairmen. Campaign headquarters opened in the City Auditorium lobby with hours daily 10 am to 5 pm through March 10. Adult dues are 6 dollars, students 3, with a March 16 cutoff for new memberships. Marion Bell will headline a March 26 concert, with other top artists planned next winter.

Mrs. Arnold Sunderman of Sidney has been named to represent Cheyenne County at the annual Homemakers Recognition program to be held in Scottsbluff and Omaha this spring. She has been active in extension club work for 12 years.

$1500 Damage Suit Filed Over Car Accident
A suit for $1500 damages was filed against Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hauser by Donald McBain for his daughter Karyl Dee. It alleges injuries from a July 25, 1949 accident when Mrs. Hauser backed her car, striking the girl who ran into the right front fender. The Hausers deny fault, noting no children nearby and stating Katy Dee ran into the car while it backed out. They say they aided the girl and that Mr. McBain called it an accident in front of witnesses.

Gas Burners Cause Sudden Double Death at Elm Street Home
An employee of Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co and his wife were found suffocated in their basement residence at 1317 Elm Street. Authorities say closed windows and two butane heaters exhausted all oxygen, with no foul play suspected. The couple, Arnold James Milam 30 and Catherine 20, had recently returned from Omaha where Milam was treated for injuries. Bodies were discovered by coworker Douglas Sherwin on Tuesday evening. funeral services planned in Gibsland, Louisiana.
