Slot Machines Out March 1st in Cheyenne County
County Attorney Lawrence M. Clinton announced that slot machines will be removed from Cheyenne County venues by March 1. He has notified the American Legion Club Knights of Columbus Club Wheat Belt Club Sidney Recreation Club and Sidney Country Club, with about twenty machines known to operate in the county. World Prayer Day Observed at Sidney Presbyterian
More than 150 people attended the World Day of Prayer service at the Sidney Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon. Mrs. Max Gentry of Gering, a returned missionary from China, gave the principal talk tracing life from deserts of discontent to green pastures. Church representatives from several Protestant denominations participated, and an offering of 65.76 was collected for missionary work.

Mercy Run Aids In Fight To Save Baby
A 13 month old Kimball child remained in critical condition after a windpipe infection from croup required emergency tracheostomy and drainage. A Denver bound tube was flown by Colorado patrol to Greeley and carried to Kimball by Patrolman Jack Knudtson. Attending doctors reported the child’s condition was still critical Saturday night.

Frank D. Kokes 84 longtime south Sunol area settler died after about five weeks illness. Funeral Monday at Gehrig Funeral Home with Rev Henry Monnich of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment in Bohemian Cemetery south of Sunol. Born in Czechoslovakia he came to the United States in 1888, lived in Ord Nebr four years, then homesteaded near Sidney, Colo. where he resided until death. Married 1895 to Teras Wilda of Belle Plaine Iowa. Survived by wife two sons John of Sidney and Frank Jr of Crook seven grandchildren seven great grandchildren and a brother and sister in Czechoslovakia. Two sons died in infancy.

Renowned young pianist Sidney Foster appears Wednesday at eight in the City Auditorium to close the 1946 47 Sidney Greater Artists Series.
