Bellevue captured the team championship with 76 points at the Class A state wrestling meet in Lincoln. Scottsbluff finished sixth with 26 points, while Bellevue’s Maroons totaled four. Dennis Mika was the lone local winner in the first round, but several locals were eliminated early including Griffiths Langdon Langley and Deweese. Chuck Henry and Gary Nickal each won individual titles for Scottsbluff and Kimball respectively.

Smaller flags issued for veterans burials by VA
The Veterans Administration begins issuing 4 1/2 by 7 foot smaller flags for use at veterans burials to be given to next of kin after casket draping.
