New Concept in Beer Industry Self Regulation
Charles E Saidall in Nebraska champions a new concept of private responsibility for law observance and enforcement by brewers and distributors. He described a state led by a Nebraska beer trade committee that surveils and cooperates with licensing and law enforcement to ensure orderly conduct. The program expands beyond prohibition era views, with mostly compliant establishments and selective legal action when needed. It has aided cases such as the recent Omaha dime a drink incidents leading to suspensions, signaling a broader self policing effort within the liquor trade.

Cheyenne County test plot shows top test weight and yield
The Spartan test plot in Cheyenne County produced nearly 10 pounds per bushel advantage over the nearest rival and yielded the highest overall. Crop authorities caution that barley may not satisfy in southeast Nebraska due to chinch bugs, while Dr Kieselbach suggests replacements for winter wheat and varieties. Spring wheat performs fairly in panhandle counties but yields are half of winter wheat in Lincoln trials over 30 years. Thatcher and Ceres offer stem rust resistance and early ripening to strengthen stands. Grain sorghum varieties suit winter wheat or fall plowing. Early kale, Soorer and improved Coes are noted.
