Drive Hits 11056 in United Fund Distribution
Nearly 10000 was distributed to six United Fund agencies Tuesday evening by 1958 drive chairman Dr. H C Q Nelson. Total collected to date is 11056.58 with 87 percent presented to agencies. 805.30 in pledges uncollected. If uncollected included, drive totals 11861.88, about 1600 short of the 13500 goal. Light Snow Falls In Sidney Region Reported
A light snow fell in the Sidney region adding to a series of winter storms this year. The Ilam airport station said precipitation was under .01 inch and accompanied by a light breeze. Moisture favors winter wheat and pastures in this area but other parts of the state fear wheat tosses after the dormant season. Weather will stay cloudy with some additional snow or rain possible through next Monday and temperatures near normal with lows around 10 and highs near 35. Farmers await warming weather to assess winter damage while dormant crops, calf and lamb deliveries continue, runoff expected but surface soil gains noted and rental changes and farm sales loom in March.

800 Acre Land Sale Set for February 25 at Lodgepole
An 800 acre land sale is scheduled for next Wednesday February 25 at the Bertha Borges farm twelve miles north of Lodgepole. Pete Rapp will conduct the sale beginning at 1 p.m., offering sections 30-16-46 and 25-16-47’s southeast quarter. Three Sidney youths sentenced on jailbreaking charge
Three Sidney youths charged with jailbreaking at Bridgeport were sentenced in Morrill County Court Monday. Dick Downing, 16, received two to four years in the State Reformatory. David Campbell, 16, was given three years probation and James Jarred, 15, was given four years probation.

South Dakota Man Killed in Bridge Collision
A 60 year old Bison man, William A. Smith, was killed when a car failed to make a curve and plunged 13 feet into an empty ditch near Sidney at the U S 30 and State 19 intersection. Three women from Bison were injured, two seriously, including Mrs. Smith and Mrs Anna Hasenwinkle. The car sheared 45 feet of railing before tipping onto its top. Funeral services for Smith will be in Bison with Gehrig and Son Funeral Home in charge. This marked Cheyenne County’s first fatality of the year and raised Nebraska's 1959 total to 33.
