The 1947 All-American Soap Box Derby rule books are now available at The Rokjer Motor Co, sponsored locally by Kokfter firm The Telegraph and Lions Club. Open to all youths in Sidney trade territory, the early release aids builders with blueprint illustrations, a racer blueprint, and color covers. New rules cover steering gear, brakes, weight and cost limits, remove towing ring, removable seat-back, height limits, and nose-forward car design.

Five Hurt In South Peetz Car Wreck Injures Sidney Dalton youths
Five youths from Sidney and Dalton were injured in a collision with a Colorado car six miles south of Peetz on Colorado Highway 113 Saturday night. Two were sent to Sterling hospitals and three to Taylor Hospital in Sidney for emergency treatment. Sheriff Schulz cited a state patrolman saying the Colorado driver pulled to the wrong side to reach a mailbox, causing a near head-on crash. Injured include Susan Boyd, Mary Wiedeburg, Robert Sisfer, Robert Ankeny, and Roland Blome with varying injuries from head trauma to broken bones. Minutes after the wreck Wiedeburg left for home. Boyd expected to go home later. Local and Logan County officers investigated. Colorado officials led the official probe.
