Prairie Blaze Destroys Pasture Near Stoneham Colorado
A raging prairie fire northeast of Stoneham destroyed thousands of dollars worth of pasture grass and stacked hay. The 11 mile by 5 mile blaze spread across land owned by Albert S. and J. E. Kester and the Cervi ranch with spread to McEndaffer Torrey Cattle Company pasture. Firefighters from Sterling, Peetz, and Kimball, plus oil crews and local ranch equipment, battled the flames overnight as winds shifted threatening homes.
