Rowse Given 26 Years In Dove Killing
William A. Rowse, a 38 year old Harrisburg mechanic and truck driver, was sentenced to 20 years in the state penitentiary for second degree murder in the fatal shooting of Dean Dove of Peterson. The verdict came from a Kimball district court jury after deliberating less than four hours. Rowse claimed Dove owed him $3,000. The sentencing occurred in the new Banner County courthouse with District Judge John Kuns presiding. Court-appointed lawyer S. E Torgeson represented Rowse. Dosek Seeks Governorship Bid for Democratic Nomination
Edward A. Dosek, a 58 year old Lincoln insurance man, announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for governor. He previously was the party's nominee for lieutenant governor in 1944 and 1950 but lost in the general elections. In 1954 he also lost the U S Senate nomination to former Gov. The Alliance City Council approved a three year franchise for Alliance Community TV Co. by a four to one vote with Councilman M D Rubeck dissenting. The ordinance takes effect on publication and must be accepted within 30 days. The firm has 150 days to build, with $25 per connection and a $6.50 monthly fee. Rates may change only with council approval.
