Suspect Held After Sidney Jewelry Store Break-in
Jason Hall, arrested by Denver authorities, is held for a Sidney jewelry store theft where 22 watches were stolen. Police report a rear door glass was broken and $44 cash from a sash register taken. Hall was nabbed near a pawn shop in Denver while a second suspect remains at large. The crime occurred Monday night with most watches reportedly men’s. The break-in marks the third rear-entry theft in the block between 10th and 11th Avenues and Illinois and Jackson streets.

Don Shipman, chairman, says many firms have been called but owners not in, and contributors may send checks if unavailable. Funds will fund a new alarm system and the drive will end with the Firemen's Ball on February 14 at the Sidney City Auditorium featuring band Lee Williams.

Thomas Nie Mollers and M Smith narrowly escaped death Thursday afternoon two miles east of Bushnell when the left rear axle broke and the wheel came off. Their car plunged off the highway, rolled end over end through three trees and into an irrigation ditch. Both men were badly bruised but not critically injured. the auto was completely demolished.

A caucus will be held in Sidney on Wednesday February 27 at 7 30 pm in the city auditorium basement to nominate candidates for two school board positions and for city police judge. Incumbents Rae L Jones A E Wright retire from the school board and Frank Smith is the police judge. School board terms will be six years, police judge two years. The Texas Co reports 2127 feet of oil recovery from the J sand in the Government No 3 well at Sioux Ordnance Depot after a drill stem test from 4867 to 4884 feet. A follow up test was less impressive and tubing will be run to complete oil production from the J sand.
