Girls Basketball Falls to Kimball in Close Battle
Miss VanErmen took the Sidney girls to Kimball Saturday where they battled the Kimball squad to 16 to 15. The Sidney team outplayed at every stage but lost by sheer luck. A resolution was proposed to require clearly posted street names at intersections and numbered houses to reduce city confusion. The tax schedule committee gained two new members H. E. Gapen and EL. County Soldier Boy Buried With All Honors
A sobering hometown obituary details Private Adrian D. Ely born Sutton Nebraska November 14 1899 died February 3 1918 at Fort Logan of pneumonia after measles. He volunteered for service at eighteen and his funeral at the Christian church drew a large crowd with army pallbearers a color draped church and music from a ladies quartet. He is survived by parents three sisters and two brothers and his body was shipped to Sutton for burial.
