A new oil pool is being developed five miles west of Sidney after completion of the Krueger No 1 wildcat by Chicago Corp and Republic Natural Gas Co. Casing was set and a DST from 4,782 to 4,797 feet yielded about 3,200 feet of clean oil. The well drilled to 5,028 feet but failed to show oil in the D sand and will be plugged back. Two additional locations are planned on the Krueger farm by Delaware Drilling Co. and Chicago Corp. Wildcat activity continues across Cheyenne County with several drills at varying depths and locations. Daily Cheyenne County oil production nears 10,000 barrels, Ohio Oil Co. and Dorman leases contributing. A potential gas market is explored in Alliance with North Central Gas Co, seeking a twenty-five year franchise amid eminent domain considerations. Ohio Oil Co. also plans further West Sidney field drilling this year.

Miracle-Fifer Drilling Co moves a rig twelve miles west of Peetz for the Scruggs-Haley Smith No 1 wildcat test near section G-11-5. Haywood No 1 moves about six miles farther west in section 6-11-54, roughly eighteen miles from Peetz. Two Logan County wildcats, the Davie-Davis No 1 and Stratton No 1, were plugged and abandoned this week. Shell Oil reports Christner 1 in Sprindale field completing for 2.9 million cu ft gas daily. Michaels 1 in West Peetz field shows gas in the D sand and oil from the J sand at total depth 5300 feet.

Theft of 800 Pound Safe From Rudy's IGA Ordville
An 800 pound safe containing two days of receipts was stolen from Rudy's IGA in Ordville and found abandoned near the Hershey railroad yards. Thieves entered through a back door, rolled the safe to an icebox, then transported it away. Authorities believe several adults targeted money, not merchandise, and deputies accompanied Rudy Munderloh to Hershey to check fingerprints and evidence. The Ordville store sits on government property near the Sioux Ordnance Depot.
