Panhandle Farm Equipment Day draws about 5000 attendees
About 5 000 people are expected for the Panhandle Farm Equipment and Progress Day on April 21 at a site near Gurley Nebraska. The event, first year for Progress Day, is sponsored by Panhandle farm implement dealers with the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture. Attendees include farmers from Nebraska South Dakota Wyoming and Colorado. The program features demonstrations and reports by UN Extension specialists and equipment displays by dealers with planning led by LeRoy Barry Delbert Lane Doyle Foland and John Egging.

Local Chapter Red Cross Holds Annual Meeting
The Cheyenne County American Red Cross held its annual dinner meeting at Dude's Steak House on Feb. 3 with 18 attendees. Special guest Paul Jacob of North Platte spoke as 1100 enrolled for 1964 summer. 41 Jr. Life Saving, 14 Sr. Life Saving, and 12 Water Safety Instructor certificates were awarded. Mary Robinson and Mike Janda represented Jr. Red Cross at the Youth Council in Lincoln. First Aid chair Dan Benzel reported two classes at Dalton and Gurley with 32 graduates, 19 in Potter, plus a Jr. High and Fire House class. 87 graduates total for the year. Future First Aid kits will be provided to instructors. Jim Paxton noted 25 demonstrations using the Rescussitannie dummy reaching about 700 people countywide, traveling 400 miles outside Sidney. Jerry Dykman reported Red Cross service to military families averaging 1.5 contacts weekly and 31 Alaska disaster inquiries. Caleb Eddy said no disaster activity this year. Page Three continuation.

Police Check He Likes Breakins At Three Points
Sidney police investigated three break ins on Friday morning. A 250 to 300 pound safe stolen from WNX truck headquarters at 13th Avenue on the Burlington line was found in a field in the Brownson area. $90 taken after entry via a broken south window and the safe moved by an unknown vehicle. In other incidents, thieves broke a window at the Sioux Villa housing development office and rifled drawers in search of cash but nothing was taken. The Plains Drive-In Theatre suffered vandalism with youths breaking into the office and snack bar. echoes of footprints showed younger culprits, but no valuables were disturbed though windows and speaker stands were damaged.

The Sidney Public Schools through the Veterans Testing Service of the American Council on Education are designated an official GED test center. Feed Grain Signup Opens February 8 for 1965 Program
Cheyenne County Agricultural Stabilization Committee Chairman Lester B. Runge announces a seven week signup for the 1965 Feed Grain Program from February 8 to March 26. Eligible crops include corn, grain sorghum and barley with voluntary participation and potential diversion and price support benefits. Farmers must devote at least 20 percent of their feed grain base to approved conservation use, with maximum diversion at 50 percent or 25 acres if larger.
